About OVO Energy

We launched over a decade ago with one clear mission – to make energy cheaper, greener, and simpler. Since then we’ve taken on over 1 million members, planted nearly 2 million trees, and put cutting carbon at the top of our to-do lists.

That’s why we offer 100% renewable electricity as standard1. And we plant one carbon-busting tree for every member, every year you’re with us2.

But we know the journey to net zero carbon doesn’t stop there. There’s loads we can do to cut our carbon footprints, like rethinking the way we travel. So we’ve brought OVO Bikes to Glasgow.

1 The renewable electricity we sell is backed by renewable certificates (Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin certificates (REGOs)). See here for details on Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin certificates and how these work. A proportion of the electricity we sell is also purchased directly from renewable generators in the UK.

2 Each year, OVO plants 1 tree for every member in partnership with the Woodland Trust. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, so tree-planting helps to slow down climate change.
