Nextbike at COP26

Ride Like the Planet Depends on it!

OVO Bikes and ScottishPower e-bikes are powered and operated by nextbike UK, a subsidiary of nextbike GmbH, the European leader in bike sharing. We have been providing a sustainable way to get around Glasgow since 2014 and are proud to support green transportation around the city for COP26.

Take advantage of the offers below and help us reach our goal to save as much CO2 as we can during this year's climate conference! All of the kilometres we ride together in all of our schemes will count toward this goal.

Join us and #Ride4Climate.

More Information

It's easy! Just download the nextbike app or the ScottishPower E-Bikes Glasgow app for iOS or Android then register, verify your details, and you're all set. The free rides will be automatically applied during the event from October 31st until November 12th.

Rides that go over the free minute amount will be charged at the normal rate of £1/30 minutes for standard bikes or £2/20 minutes for e-bikes.

Either app will work! You can rent e-bikes from both the ScottishPower E-Bikes Glasgow app or the nextbike app.

You're in the right place! This page is being updated with the latest news and information effecting our stations and bikes. Be sure to activate push notifications for travel announcements and you can also reach out to us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

For detailed road and route closures in the city, click here to see the Get Ready Glasgow map.

Our local service team works tirelessly to maintain a balanced bike share system that's ready for everyone to use. To help them keep bikes available for all riders, bikes have to be returned to an official station.

Any bike returned outside an official station will be subject to a £10 / £20 (standard / e-bike) fine. This will increase to £20 / £30 for a second offence and £30 / £40 for the third offence. If a customer returns a nextbike incorrectly more than three times, unfortunately their account will be closed.

Nextbike reserves the right to charge up to £200 (standard bikes) and £500 (e-bikes) for vandalised or stolen bikes due to any negligent behaviour.

If you have an OVO Bikes membership, you now get 30 free minutes on top of the 30 minute rentals included in your membership. That means you can ride for 60 minutes on standard bikes for free during COP26 if you have a membership.

ScottishPower e-bikes are not included in the membership and will be charged at the standard rate after the free 10 minutes are up.

COP26 free rides offer terms and conditions:

  • All 30-minute rides on standard bikes will be automatically free in Glasgow from October 31st through November 12th.
  • If you already have a membership, you will have an additional 30-minutes free per ride on standard bikes, for a total of 60-minutes.
  • Rides over 30 minutes (under Pay As You Ride) or 60 minutes (under a membership) will be charged at the standard rate.
  • E-bikes are included in a separate offer and are charged at the rates set by this offer for the duration of COP26.
  • All bikes must be returned to official stations. Any attempt to return a nextbike outside of an official location will result in an additional fee.
